Alamo Heights
Home to many of the city’s oldest, most established families, this quaint “city within a city” is known for its top-rated public schools, and has its own police, fire, and sanitation departments. Only 10 minutes from downtown along the Broadway corridor, the area is a mix of stately mansions and cozy bungalows on quiet, tree-lined streets, upscale condos, and mixed-use developments. Alamo Heights shopping and entertainment can be found at The Quarry and Lincoln Heights shopping centers, and couture boutiques, specialty shops, and designer showrooms are scattered throughout the city. The McNay Art Museum, the University of the Incarnate Word, and the San Antonio Country Club all border Alamo Heights.
